3- ingredient Microwave mochi in 5 minutes, I seriously don’t know what part is the best. But now when I want mochi, I just microwave some instead of spending $2.99 for 3 pieces at Japan Town 😉 If you like soy cream milk tea, check out my recipe which is a perfect match with the mochi!

Ingredient List:

  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup mochiko flour
    Optional:
  • red food coloring 2 drops
  • Matcha powder
  • 2 tablespoons Kinako flour (Japanese soybean flour) for topping/ dusting

Step-By-Step guide

  1. Add all ingredients to a microwave-safe bowl and mix well

2. Microwave for 1 minute

3. The side is partially cooked and the middle is liquidy. Mix well and microwave for 30 seconds

4. Microwave and mix for 30 seconds for 2 more times until you get a thick and semi-transparent dough

(Optional) separate the dough into 3 parts:

Pink Mochi: add 2 drops of red food coloring to 1 part and mix well

Green Mochi: add a little matcha powder to another part and mix well.

5. Let the dough cool down for 3 minutes or until it is cool enough for you to touch

6. Dust the work surface with Mochiko flour or Kinako flour and cut the dough into quarter size.

7. Dust the mini dough with flour, and roll it into balls.

Serve with your favorite toppings like kinako flour, Oreo, soy cream milk tea and more
